how much would i love to say “there are no limits”, but the beauty of our work emerges from exactly those limitations.
we design, manufacture and finish the entirety of our knitwear in-house.
that’s a lot of work and calls for exploration, and material testing.
it’s also testing our patience in the meantime. luckily, the one big lesson knitting can teach you is patience itself.
good stories kinda write themselves, you just have to actually write them.
knitting has for the longest time been a slow game. a long con against the thread and our own patience. today, here at softwerk, we knit the heavy work with an automated knitting machine.
but our garment’s design process is not as digital as you might expect.
there is not this one, infinitely repeatable process, but careful tweaking and testing.
every time.
each of our designs grows naturally, just as knit does. row by row, stitch by stitch, we meticulously plan our garments, always keeping material, fit, comfort and shape in mind.
just how no two materials ever behave the same, each garment leaves our studio finished by hand, unique.
we make sure all our products truly match their vision before we send them on their way, into your hands, onto your bodies.
limited by our machine’s capabilities (and sometimes the laws of physics), we are constantly developing solutions, work-arounds and tricks to make our ideas become knit reality.
Our designs are always a product of this process, there is no shortcut to fantastic clothing.
Seeing them as part of the process, we embrace limitations, as they are very likely leading to something worth exploring.
follow us to watch our designs come to life.

because for knitwear, it never seems to work sustainably.
with the challenges the world (and the fashion industry) are currently facing, we are establishing ways to not only change how we think about consumerism, but products in general. we move slower on purpose, striving to move with sense and accountability, always giving us enough time to react with our best ethical motives in mind. -
we don’t know. but if you’re drawn to think like us, we would assume so.
we like to produce our fair fashion locally. with focus on design, knit innovation and constant exploration, we strive for pricing models that match the delicacy of our products, while staying affordable. -
we love natural fibres.
being aware of what feels good on the skin (and on our planet), we knit our garments from wool, cashmere, merino, camel, cotton and linen. whenever needed, we add slight percentages of synthetic fibers to extend the garment’s lifetime and allow for more comfort. -
using our automated knitting machine to do the “dirty work” allows our hands to invest more time into delicate finishing. our machine knits quite a bit faster than we could and speeds our design and development time up drastically. by no means would we be able to produce at this quality and price point, would we not use it.

everything is, kinda.
automated knitting means someone always has to code the script, troubleshoot the machine and work it. fortunately, even with our machine, knitting always involves hand making. every piece is finished by hand and includes production steps machines can’t do. so yes. everything here is made by humans. -
yes!
